EVENT TIMELINE

SINCEFeb 2011
  • Decoding the blue Dot

Passionate about earth observation, climate change, and civic science? Or simply love a good idea worth sharing?

Then come join us on November 16th, 2017 for another TEDxRheinmain event. This one is called "Decoding the Blue Dot" because we will present you a line-up of speakers that will share ideas and stories about the importance – and the beauty – of Earth observation, how it can help us in making lives better all over the world and understand the effects of climate change. And what better place to do this than at the EUMETSAT headquarter in Darmstadt: the Mission Control Center for their satellites and the place where much of the data they provide is made available! Come and hear Pierre-Yves Cousteau talk about his passion - the oceans of our world. Be inspired by Eelco Dykstra’s view on Risk and Resilience: we don't need more science but better stories! Listen to Kwame Adu-Agyekume telling the story of how he helps Ghanaien fishers by using satellite data. See how Remko Scharroo unravels the mysteries of measuring sea level for us.

  • Datanauts

DATANAUTS: Decoding the Future Well, that we've learned: Pretty much everything is data today. Which kind of naturally sums up to loads of loads of data. Or Big Data as we call it. Data itself not being good or bad the challenge that comes with it is: What are we going to do with it? At Datanauts we do not want to get stuck with the fraidy cats that only see the inevitable doom of evil in data. Sure, we definitely will have an eye on the dark side of it too.

  • Rocketminds

Rocketminds are people with ideas worth spreading. People, for whom not even space is the limit, who go beyond taking the next step – think far, prepare for the long haul. They look at our planet and see the future. They look at the sky and see opportunities. They do not simply think outside the box, but take the box and turn it into a multidimensional space, making it bigger on the inside.

  • Disruptive Economy

I did it my way. A California automobile manufacturer develops and builds in record time functioning and (beautiful) sports car with electric motor. A world-renowned Danish manufacturer of toy blocks teaches children with a robot kit hacking. The world's largest fast-food chain can develop from its customers its hamburger Collections by crowdsourcing.Who wants to be successful in business today, you must be willing to question its market again and redefine. Or completely invent a new one. Traditional, classical conceptual models have served there.

  • Curiosity

Wieso, weshalb, warum?

We allow you to dive into new topics in an unconventional way and lern new things. Ranging from science, technology to design and philosophy.

COMMUNICATION

We bring people together, who share the same passion. We foster the exchange of ideas within our local community. #RheinMainRocks

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At TEDxRheinMain, live speakers will spark deep discussion and connection. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised.
